Preparing for Grad Show Preview

Prepare Your Professional Materials

Grad Show Preview is all about putting you in contact with creative professionals. Be ready to take advantage of those connections by having your professional materials polished.

Materials to Prepare

  • Portfolio Website

  • Resume

  • LinkedIn Profile

  • Me in a Minute video

Prepare for Virtual Presentations

The virtual part of Grad Show Preview is a great opportunity to become comfortable introducing yourself and your work through a well-rehearsed and refined presentation.

Things to Consider

  • Attendees want to get to know you by viewing your work.

  • Your technology and space should be well curated.

  • Reading from a script will put distance between you and your audience. Work from an outline with notes instead.

  • Consider creating a slide deck for the presentation rather than presenting from your website.

Prepare for the In-Person Event

At the in-person Grad Show Preview event, you’ll have the chance to network with creative professionals. It’s a great chance to develop your skills.

Things to Consider

  • Dress for the kind of first impression you want to make.

  • You’ll be on your feet for several hours, so comfort is also important.

  • Practice conversation starters and your handshake.

  • Be ready to collect contact information and follow up.
